Criteria for Entry:                 The referred individual has at least two weeks verifiable negative urines.
                                                Potential referrals must be highly motivated.
 
Admission / Referral:         Admission must be voluntary.
Referrals made from inpatients facilities may transfer directly to Keltoi upon completion of detoxification and assessment.  The Keltoi team recommend that all referring agents (i.e. Probation and Welfare Officer / community based counsellor) visit Keltoi in order to fully understand this unique programme.The referring agency fills in the referral form and forwards it to Keltoi.
                                                It is not able to facilitate referrals where mental health is the main problem, unless residents with mental health problems are in remission or stabilised.
 

Details of Programme:        The programme is over an eight week period with a strong emphasis on occupational work. 

There are a number of phases to the programme.  During assessment a psycho-education self-development programme is established.  The actual therapeutic work is cognitive behavioural.  At an agreed stage the work will then begin to look at effective measures that deal with issues that may hinder recovery.  The final phase is to prepare the person for independence.  The essence of all activities at Keltoi is therapeutic, advocating respect, life management, negotiating around interpersonal relationships, in the context of groups.

 
After Care:                             2 year after care with group meetings once weekly and one to one counselling once weekly.  If in crisis appointments can be arranged.
