DRUG AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Background

 This is the forth year of running the annual event called the Dublin 12 Drug Awareness Campaign, organised by the Dublin 12 Local Drugs Task Force. 

 The purpose of the event is to

1. Community: Bring the community together, build a sense of community, give & receive feedback about safety issues & concerns; recruit involvement to develop & support neighbourhood schemes & local networks; lobby for change.
2. Raise awareness of & educate local people about;

1. Potential risks associated with drug usemis-use,
2. Role & availability of drug treatment services.
3. Work & profile of the Drugs Task Force,

The National Drug Strategy 2001-2008 identifies “Education & Prevention” and “Illegal Drug Supply Reduction” as two of the four named “Pillars” of the Strategy. The Drug Awareness Week is a Dublin 12 response to & application of these two Pillars.
